My cobbler helper this morning. #vscocam #liveauthentic #love
I’m so excited to share the photos of our completed bathroom that my husband (Dan) and I did together! We did everything except for laying the tile. Because we were tiling the shower, we decided it was best to a hire a professional for that part.
This project was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Physically. It gave me a whole new respect for contractors. It was also the most rewarding and exciting thing to see come together. Finding the perfect tile and making lots of design decisions. SO. STINKING. FUN.
I learned so much about faucets and plumbing and tile and subfloors and and and… we even found an old bees nest in one of the walls and about 8 dead mice. Surprises around every corner. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to work with. Dan was not afraid to figure things out. Even when I was almost in tears, which was often. He is a rock.
Dan made new cabinet doors and a beautiful tub tray (a present for my Birthday) out of reclaimed maple. The tray turned out so well, he decided to make and sell them in our shop.
My dearest friend and cousin Andy, of Lux & Watts, made the custom lights for us and did all things electrical. I couldn’t be happier with how the lighting turned out.
We decided to add a couple of niches inside the shower, one near the bottom for shaving. A place to put my foot, a tiny detail but boy does it make shaving in the shower easier.
A perfect winter project. I can’t wait to tackle the upstairs bathroom…. in a few years.
